As a man thinketh in his heart; so is he. Proverbs 23:7

"Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice.

Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord [is] at hand.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. " -Philippians 4:4-9

Playing with pastels...

First one is overworked and am thinking I'm going to abandon it . . . but it is a beginning in pastels. I really don't know what I'm doing with pastels. My first attempts in full color.

This second one is a work in progress...flesh tones will be much better...use of more grays is helping immensely and this one is "working up" better ... let's see if I can kill it...ha ha. I need a good instructor but can't find one.

Well, they both show character - that's a great thing! I agree the second is more powerful. Why are you 'dotting' around so much Patti? Don't you feel you should really concentrate on a couple of techniques, say?

Jon...I don't know what I'm doing...grasping at straws. I'm so tired of trying to teach myself...because I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING...just sayin. Hard time for me. I know these really aren't all that great but I have the guts to show my failures. -- going out of town tomorrow home three days ... going out of town for four more. Aaaaargh. Patti

Well, I can undestand how you feel - easily and of course. But we know there's no need. A break won't really do any harm (on the contrary!), and trying different things often turns out to be extremely rewarding in one way or another...

Jon...You don't see a set back when off for a while? (My concern.) It's going to be like this for me until the estate is settled ... SO MUCH WORK to do on this and related work ....so concerned I'll lose most of the skill and knowledge I've gained recently ... what I've worked so hard for. Hard to concentrate right now when I do find a little time to draw ... that art work shows a confused overworked mind.

I've ben stopped for 3/4 days as well - before it would really have got to me. Experience has showed me that it probably will help not hinder - anyway got to accept the ""inevitable""
